Hi there, I’m Christina.
A self-taught artist who works mainly with acrylics.
Intending for more of us to feel alive and connected, I create with care, using materials others overlook or leave behind. Plastic wrap, corks, newspaper, and junk mail inserts stand in for traditional brushes, giving my work a textured, vibrant energy.
Rooted in my experience as a queer, disabled, first-generation college graduate, my work explores the emotions of existing as the "other." At the same time, it is shaped by the privileges and joys that allow me to make art in response to the world's pain and confusion. My pieces are deeply personal and purposefully global.
Most of the supplies—paint, frames, canvases—come from Turnip Green Creative Reuse or my late father's paint collection. My work aims to remind us that, like people and our planet, there is deep and vital beauty in what others may deem disposable.
